Asalamu Alaykium,
Brothers and Sisters,
I am about to deploy and wondered what the reactions were like by locals when they found out you were Muslim? I am going to be in a place where I have a lot of face to face time with them. Even in the US a lot of times I find an unfavorable reaction by Muslims because I'm in the military. I usually just ignore them, but I think deployed I may not have that luxur
Alhamdullah,
Josh

Our Iraqi brothers were very excited every I came to visit with them. In the U.S. it is different here at the Masjid but in Iraq they are happy to know that you are a Muslim.
wa alaykum assalam,
Keith

Ramadan Mubarack Ahki,
your experience is similar to the one I had. The Iraqi muslims I agree were happy to know that there are American Muslims... thank you for your service and the sacrifice you and your family are making. May Allah make your tour at Fort Polk, easy, and accept your niyyah and siyaam (fasting) during this Ramadan and forgive all of your shortcomings.
Jazakullah Khair!
