This first Strategy Session is an excellent and necessary start for MMM.  Sorry I can't attend.  I'm in the other Washington - near Fort Lewis.

I'm inclined to think that a commitment to financially funding MMM and its activities is a priority.   We need "certified" Muslilm layleaders at every military installation.  MMM can get Muslims in the service trained and certified.  There are many who may already be qualified, but being certifed by an officially approved Islamic endorser is what will give our leaders authority to act in an official capacity for Muslims on any installation.  Installation chaplains will be obligated to respond.  Without certification, their excuse is that "You're not a certified layleader" - inhibiting access to funding Chaplain's have allocated for religious support and an unwillingness to accommodate Muslims on base/post.

Let's think about how we can each individually donate to MMM, as well as get a major fundraising event organized for this purpose.

As salaam alaikum,

I'm looking very forward to being there, for this long awaited session. I'm hoping a good number of folks will show, but really a small number of people historically have always been  those responsible for capturing the momentum for change. I believe something great can only come from this meeting. Inshallah!

I think that everybody should bring something to the table from their experience thats relative uplifting and/or refreshing.

Feem Allah

Wa 'alaikum AsSalaam wa RaHmatullaahi wa barakaatu,       All praise and honor are for Allah only and may Allah give Muhammad alaihi salaat wa salaam the promised rank and wasila.       Some of the topics I think should also be discussed are:
  •    Annual Dues (second vote)
  •    Hajj coordination- I have the format for documents needed for military members.
  •    Annual/ Semi-annual Meetings- Also the posibility of doing chat rooms/ VOIP like Skype
  •    Semi Annual Lay Leader Training- Imam Yahya Hindi of Bethesda Naval Hospital is qualified to instruct/train
  •    ISNA (ramadhan/ hajj start/ end dates)
  •    Legal rights as Muslims in the Military (What you can say/ wear/ do)
  •    Hijab (options for hijab in the military)
  •    Funding for Semi annual weekend "Qur'an Retreats" ( Outings with Imams/ Sheiks to increase iman)
